Employer Engagement Officer

Fixed Term until the end August with the potential for extension
£20 per hour umbrella, PAYE is available
Our client, a local authority in London, is seeking to appoint an employer engagement officer.
This post works on two projects:
Supported Internship Programme. A support employment programme that should lead to paid employment for learners with education Health Care Plans
Routes into Construction: This project is aimed at making job opportunities accessible to who are long term NEET and those facing economic disadvantage.
In collaboration with Post 16 Team:
- Encourage the development of employment opportunities with accessible recruitment processes and working conditions
- Make the business case to employers for employing young people who are long term NEET or have EHCP
- Support employers to retain and develop people those with EHCP’s
- Organising workshops/events for employers and young people
- Working with employment support organisations to reach eligible people for the programme.
Project Tasks:
- With Members of the team, build relationships with employers who would benefit from hiring or maintaining the employment of young people who are NEET and those with EHCP’s
- Support the development of pathways for people on the programme designed to support them along a journey to employment
- Promote positive images of NEET and those with EHCP’s to help employers understand the business case for making their opportunities accessible to this cohort
- Identify employment practices which create barriers to employment for the target audience returning or sustain working
- Work with individual employers to support them to develop accessible routes into employment in their organisation
- Organise regular events for employers and young people including CV building and interview skills workshops
- Ensure evaluation is embedded in all activities and learning shared with stakeholders
- Working with employment support organisations to reach eligible people for the programme
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate should have:
- An up to date DBS on the update service or within 12 months
- Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses when employing young people who are NEET or who have EHCP
- Understanding of the barriers young people with SEN in securing sustained employment
- Understanding of the steps people might need to take to progress towards employment
- Experience of communicating with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Experience of working with employers in the private sectors
- Experience of developing professional relationships with senior representatives of other organisations
- Monitoring and evaluating activities
- General ICT competence including adaptability to new software and familiarity with project software
