Our client, a further education college in East London, are seeking to appoint a number of learning support assistants for this academic year, beginning as soon as possible, some working within the mainstream curriculum and some within the autism centre.

Learning Support Assistants (LSA) will be delivering high quality learning support to students with complex needs, autism, and challenging behaviours to enable them to achieve their ambitions in relation to preparing for adulthood. LSAs will provide day to day 1:1 support and will use positive behaviour support approach. LSAs will also provide support teaching staff to evaluate students’ individual behaviour management needs and advise on strategies to help improve behaviour and engagement in lessons and activities out of class.

Please note that some of these vacancies have a requirement to deliver personal care.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in supporting individuals with learning difficulties, autism, or challenging behaviours
  • L2 in English and maths as a minimum
  • DBS within 12 months or on the update service.

Contract lenth: one academic year (until July 2021) beginning asap.

Hours of work: Full time, but actual hours and days worked may vary due to student timetables

Pay rate: £12.80 umbrella.  PAYE is available
