Direct Reports: Sales Executive, Employer Engagement Officer, Enrolment Officer

£55,000 OTE



The primary purpose of this role is to meet or exceed the company sales revenue targets. The role is a broad mix of team leadership and management, whilst adopting a hands-on approach to sales and new business development.


The role holder will have accountability for the performance of:

·         Sales and account management

·         New business development

·         Apprentice and learner enrolment


The new Sales Manager will be a key member of the team; we’re looking for a team player that looks beyond their area of the business and understands the impact of their actions for other departments. The role holder will be an ambitious and experienced sales manager from the FE sector. The role holder will have an opportunity to shape and grow the sales team, driving innovation and approaches that meet the primary objectives. As the business grows, the organisation structure will evolve, meaning that promotion to the position of Head of Business Development with additional areas of accountability a real possibility for the right person.


Areas of Accountability and Responsibility:

Efficiency and Targets

·         Manage team performance to ensure targets are consistently met or exceeded

·         Develop new and efficient processes and procedures that meet internal and external quality and compliance requirements

Sales and Account Management

·         Manage the sales performance (micro-small employers) to ensure monthly sales targets are met or exceeded

·         Manage the account management performance to ensure monthly sales targets are met or exceeded

·         Support the team to diversify, upsell, generate and fill Apprenticeship vacancies, through the effective use of business training needs analysis

·         Manage the sales process for Advanced Learner Loans to maximise the spend against contract profile

·         Ensure data entry and completed documentation meets internal and external quality and compliance requirements

Business Development

·         Develop new business opportunities (medium-large employers) that generate new starts, repeat business, economies of scale and long term sustainable relationships

·         Ensure data entry and completed documentation meets internal and external quality and compliance requirements


·         Manage, monitor and drive Apprenticeship, AEB, Advanced Learner Loans and commercial enrolments; delivering a high quality and efficient service for employers and learners

·         Ensure all pre-Operations elements of the enrolment, including IAG are completed within agreed timescales, data system are updated to enable Operations to complete the final stages of the enrolment

·         Ensure data entry and completed documentation meets internal and external quality and compliance requirements


Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have:

·         Experience of sales management within the FE sector

·         A proven track record of winning new business

·         Able to analyse data to inform decision making and performance management

·         Proficient Microsoft business products user

·         Highly effective communication skills; verbal and written

·         Knowledge and understanding of the ESFA funding rules

·         English and maths GCSE grade C or above or equivalent



• Experience of sales and business development leadership and management

• A successful track record of positive outcomes from business proposals

• Experience of developing strategy and high-level external partnerships and relationships

• A proven track record of successful bid / tender writing; self-writing or managing the function

• A proven track record of effective contract management

• Experience of process design

• Project management skills

• Experience of managing marketing and design.
