Sales & Operations Manager

Our client, a leading provider of Document Management solutions, has an exciting new opportunity for a combined Sales and Operations role, to lead on and continue the success of the organisation in its industry leading provision of Document Imaging services.

This is an ideal opportunity to be an integral member of staff at Senior Management level, helping to shape and influence the future direction of the organisation.

Below are listed some key accountabilities for the position:


The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate all or the majority of the following requirements:

  • Proven project management and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Background, or deep understanding of manufacturing processes and methodologies (kanban, kaizan, process mapping, etc. to name a few)
  • Strong sales experience including the development of sales strategies
  • Experience in working with CRMs and sales outreach tools for engagement and lead generation
  • Ability to create accurate project costings and generate revenue forecasts
  • Excellent customer relationship, relationship-building, networking and communication skills
  • A drive to meet and exceed turnover and other targets (TBC)
  • Experience in managing customer accounts and expectations
  • Strong IT and systems knowledgeResponsibilities – Operations

Quality Control and Customer Satisfaction


  • Constantly maintain the company quality standards and core values of; People, Reliability, Value, Honesty, Quality and Work Ethic
  • To ensure the implementation of best practice in all aspects of the company’s operations
  • To ensure that we meet and exceed customer expectations in terms of service, reliability, quality and responsiveness
  • To ensure ongoing communication with clients before during and after the delivery of work
  • To seek customer feedback for work undertaken and maintain customer satisfaction records


Operational efficiency and resource allocation


  • Planning workloads with production manager to assist with management and maintenance of production levels (3 month rolling schedule)
  • Maximise business efficiency through effective allocation of labour, materials and equipment
  • Assist with management of all direct costs according to target profit ratio for each job
  • To establish and maintain clear performance standards related to the output and efficiency of all site personnel, supervisors and contracts managers
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with suppliers to maximise quality, value, service levels and cost effectiveness


Team Management, Performance and Training


  • Assist with providing a clear focus on individual responsibilities, job roles and performance standards
  • To constantly drive performance through ongoing communication, feedback, support and team motivation
  • Assist with the internal and external training requirements and training delivery for all operations personnel including induction, certification and Tool Box Talks
  • Assist with disciplinary procedures when necessary, in accordance with the company policy and current employment legislation
  • Succession planning to ensure ongoing opportunities for personal growth and prevent the business being vulnerable to the departure of key management staff
  • Ongoing recruitment of operatives and supervisors as required


Responsibilities – Sales Management


To maximise company revenue through proactive sales planning, customer relationship management, marketing activity and lead generation


Total Company Revenue Generation


  • Prepare annual revenue budgets – working with the MD, establishing sales forecasts by product/service, including gross profit expectations
  • Maintain and build strong external business relationships and partnerships
  • Prepare and agree department budget, including any marketing and corporate entertainment expenses
  • Management reporting to ensure full management team awareness of revenue position and any necessary plans to recover shortfalls
  • Full liaison with the Production Manager to ensure integration with production prioritisation


Sales Planning


  • Create annual sales plan detailing targeting for both existing customers and new business development
  • Allocate target responsibilities to self and MD role
  • Identify monthly activity plans and targets to map out source of business in line with budgets
  • Monitor market activity, anticipating tender opportunities
  • Preparation of all proposals and sales presentations


Customer Relationship Management


  • Analysis of each key customer account to identify, growth, up selling and cross selling opportunities
  • Managing the CRM system to ensure effective customer communications and reporting
  • Identification of all decision makers and key influencers
  • Liaising with the MD to allocate relationship responsibilities
